A little bit about me
I’m Kim, the creator of Bird & Poppy. I grew up in Minnesota. That’s where I met my fabulous (and I will add, incredibly handsome) husband Dennis, the love of my life. We moved to Washington state shortly after we were married and are lucky enough to remain in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I absolutely love living here!
We have two wonderful children – Isaac & Lucy, two trouble maker dogs – Pip and Kai, and two scaredy cats – Explorer and Mr. We apparently like things in twos.
I’m a bit of a talker. I love to socialize. I love to cook. I love doing crafts. I love recycling things. I love being organized although sometimes I feel like I rarely am. I love being on time, yet again, I’m often not. I love Jesus and sharing about Him. I love healthy things. I love my family and spending time with them. I love camping, backpacking and anything outdoors. I love the beach and all things with water! I love to travel. I love vacations. I love being barefoot. I love fresh from the garden vegetables. I love drinking hot tea and cuddling up by the fire on a cold day, and I love life! That’s me in a nutshell.
Currently we are living in a camper (a very small camper) while we are fixing up a house we bought. This has added challenges and hardships of it’s own but none-the-less exciting!
About Bird & Poppy
I started Bird & Poppy in 2016. It originally started as a blog named DIY Fixer Upper because we had just bought our very own fixer upper! But I quickly learned that I was wanting to share more than just DIY and house project posts. Thus, I changed the name to Bird & Poppy, 2 of my favorite things – fat birds and red poppies, because I wanted to blog about my favorite things!
Bird & Poppy is a lifestyle blog that features all things that I enjoy, Travel, DIY crafts, home design and remodeling, food, family, spiritual insights and more. It is meant to encourage and inspire you both creatively and spiritually, in all aspects of life.
We are in the middle of a major home renovation project right now and I’m excited to share updates as we go. We are busy people. We are parents. We both have jobs outside the home. This blog will follow us as we navigate through – well, LIFE.
