What makes Kahuku Farms so special?
- Family Owned: It makes you feel good to support family owned businesses, or at least it does for me. There were two families that joined together in 1980 to create Kahuku Farms, Matsuda & Fukuyama. They are 4th generation Hawaiian farm families who were neighbors. Both were immigrants from Japan. Matsuda & Fukuyama immigrated in the early 1900’s and began working in the sugar plantations. They started growing, watermelon, peppers, papaya’s, banana’s, sweet potatoes, pineapple, and other crops and the rest is history!
- Farm Fresh: This is a true farm to table experience. Most of the food served is grown on their farm and you literally eat it on their farm!
- Farm Tours: They offer farm tours or they allow you to walk yourself through their farm. Signs are posted, so be sure to read where you can and can’t go.
- Delicious Food: Okay, lets be honest, the food is what really makes a place! The food is so fresh, and so delicious! Even their drinks and smoothies are exceptional! You don’t leave feeling sick to your stomach and heavy! And of course eating farm fresh items right on the actual farm is pretty cool!
- Products: On their salads and in some of their drinks they use ingredients that they actually bottle and sell. This is such an added bonus! When you can buy it and make it at home, it brings you back to this little bit of paradise on Oahu’s North Shore! And, it leaves you longing to return!
