The Barefoot Beach Cafe is a casual, outdoor, oceanfront, restaurant on the Diamond Head end of Waikiki Beach. It offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and has live Hawaiian music in the evenings.

What we love:
The Location! This cafe not only has fantastic food but a fabulous location! Right on Waikiki Beach, next to the ocean. They have tables in the shade from the nearby trees if you want shade and tables in plenty of sunshine if that’s what you want! Everything is outdoors so throw in the cool trade winds and it’s perfect! I love to come in time to watch the sunset!
This is so convenient if you are staying in Waikiki. It’s a short walk away, just on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki Beach. However, if you you are driving it can be a little more tricky. They do not have parking. Parking is limited to the street. It’s free parking so it’s usually always full. You can get lucky sometimes. Across the street is usually open parking during the day but that’s because it’s metered. At night, after 6, it’s not metered but then it fills up quick with surfers and all the games going on in Kapiolani park so it’s still a challenge to find parking. There is free parking at the Shell in Kapiolani park, just off Monsarrat Ave, and they have parking spots available most of the time. From there, it’s just a short walk on the path through the koi ponds to cross Kalakaua and reach the Barefoot Cafe. Trust me, it’s totally worth the parking hassle!
The Food! The food is absolutely fabulous! And they are not skimpy on their portions ! They have several vegan options as well. Check out their menu HERE.
Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Plate with Guava Glaze
Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes
Passion Fruit Smoothie
Guava Smoothie
Acai Bowl
Vegan Tofu Scramble
The Ambience! It’s so lovely to sit by the ocean and eat! There is always a nice cool breeze from the trade-winds and the sunshine, oh the sunshine! It’s perfect! Of course, I’m a lover of the beach and sunshine and heat so there’s that. But In the evening it’s lovely too. There are cafe lights that are stung around and live Hawaiian music. It’s fabulous! and I will say, Waikiki has fantastic sunsets!
I can’t wait for you to try out this little cafe and tell me what you think.
