Have you ever noticed that reading the Bible can calm you? I have found comfort, peace and even joy through very dark times by seeing God’s word, reading it, speaking it, and hearing it. I’m sharing this list of verses that calm my heart when anxieties, fear, and worry try to bring me down. I hope they give you peace and hope!
1. Psalm 55:22 (The Remedy)
Pour all your worries, frustrations and burdens on the Lord and He will care for you; He never allows those restored to His design to be lost.
2. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.
3. 1 John 3:19-20 (The Remedy)
Such a transformed life is evidence that God’s character of love is truly rewritten within us, and with this knowledge we can have peace in His presence, even when we feel inadequate and sinful. The truth is more reliable than our feelings, and God’s ability to heal and restore is greater than our sickness, so be courageous, for there is nothing God doesn’t already know.
4. Joshua 1:9 (NLT)
…Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
5. Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you, Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you us with my victorious right hand.
6. Romans 8:28 (The Remedy)
And we know that in all things, at all times, in all circumstances, God works for the good of his creation and for the good of all who love him. Those who have accepted God’s call – to work with him according to his purpose – experience the good things that God has for them.
7. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
8. John 16:33 (NLT)
…Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
9. Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
For I know that plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
10. Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; He will neither fail you nor abandon you.
11. Psalm 27:1 (The Remedy)
The Lord enlightens me and heals me – why should I be afraid? The Lord keeps me safe – why should I be afraid?
12. Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
13. Isaiah 12:2 (NLT)

And my God will continue to provide – from the abundant riches poured out in Jesus Christ – everything you will ever need for complete healing and transformation.
15. Psalm 16:8 (NLT)
I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for his is right beside me.
16. Ephesians 6:10-18 (The Remedy)
Finally, stay strong in your connection and devotion to the Lord and his might power. Arm your minds with God’s complete set of armor so that you can join the ranks of Christs soldiers and stand successful in the face of the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, with man-made weapons, but against all individuals, entities and powers that misrepresent God and darken minds, and against Satan – the originator of lies about God – and his cohorts who also misrepresent God in the heavenly realms. Therefore arm your minds with God’s full set of armor so that when Satan’s grand deception comes and it seems the heavens are about to fall, you are able to stand; and when you have done everything to present the truth and expose Satan’s lies – don’t falter; stand! Stand firm, with the truth of God wrapped around you like a belt; with a righteous, Christlike character developed within – like a breastplate; and the peace that comes from accepting the good news about God – like track shoes providing good traction and a solid foundation. Also, hold fast the shield of trust, which extinguishes all the burning fear and insecurity brought by the devil’s temptations. Take with you the helmet of a healed mind – a mind protected from the assaults of Satan; and attack the lies about God with the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God – the truth. And talk with God with an enlightened mind, intelligently, on all occasion, about all of your concerns, requests, plans, and issues. With all of this in mind, be alert and always keep praying for God’s people.
17. 2 Chorinthians 4:16-18 (The Remedy)
That is why we don’t get discouraged. Though our bodies are aging and wasting away, our hearts and minds are growing more like Jesus’ every day. Therefore the momentary pain and discomfort that come during the healing process is insignificant when compared to the results of eternal perfection. We keep our minds focused – not on the day-to-day immediate struggles, but on the eternal outcome of reunion with God. For what is seen today is temporary, but the unseen future with God is eternal.
18. Romans 15:13 (The Remedy)
As you trust in God, may your fear be expelled and your hearts filled with joy and peace, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may be continually filled with hope.
19. 1 John 4:18 (The Remedy)
In love, there is no fear. Fear is part of the infection of selfishness, but is purged by love, as fear has to do with concern for oneself. The one who remains self-focused and afraid has not been healed by God’s love.
20. Matthew 10:28 (The Remedy)
Don’t be afraid of those who can destroy the body: they cannot touch your psyche, your mind, your individuality. Rather, be afraid of unremedied sin, which destroys both body and mind and results in eternal destruction.
21. Galatians 6:9-10 (NLT)
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone – especially to those in the family of faith.
22. Hebrews 13:5-6 (NIV)
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
23. John 3:16-17 (The Remedy)
For God loved the world so much that He gave me, his One and only Son, so that all who open their hearts and trust me will be healed, and therefore not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send me, his Son, into the world to condemn the world, but to provide healing from sin in order to restore the world to unity with God through me.
24. Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
25. Psalm 91:14-16 (NLT)
The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”
26. Psalm 91 (The Remedy)
All who live with renewed hearts – covered in the righteousness of the Most High – will rest under the protection of the Ruler of the universe. They will say of the Lord, “He is my remedy and my security, my God, in whom I trust.” He will save you from devious traps – the pestilence of malicious speech and deadly lies. He will cover you in his perfect righteousness, and under his healing care you will be renewed; his faithfulness will be your remedy and immunity. You will not be afraid of the dreadful fears that assail the mind in the dark, nor the verbal attacks that fly like arrows in the daytime, nor the pestilence of fear and doubt that creep into the heart at night, nor the plague of guilt and shame that destroys the soul when the light shines in. A thousand may die of unremedied sin beside you and ten thousands at your right hand, but eternal death will not come near you. Yes, you will see with your own eyes how sin destroys those who reject my healing remedy. Because you have made the Lord your shelter – the Most High your abiding place – no evil will infect your heart nor will corruption come into your home. For he will command his angels to watch over you, to guard and protect you and keep you safe; they will hold you in their hands, so that you won’t hurt your food stumbling on a stone. You will tread upon evil forces – the ravenous lions and slithering snakes; you will trample the great lion – the predator of good, the ancient serpent. The Lord says, “I will heal those who love and trust me; I will protect them because they have partaken of my character. When they call out to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in times of trouble, I will rescue them from sinfulness and restore them to my glorious design. I will heal them and give them eternal life.”
27. Psalm 34:4-8 (NLT)
I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
28. Deuteronomy 20:4 (NLT)
For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!
29. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (The Remedy)
…”My Remedy is more than enough for you, for my power is most clearly seen by transforming the weak.” Therefore I will make my infirmities even more plain so that Christ’s power may be more fully revealed in me. Do you understand? It is so that Christ’s Remedy – His power to transform lives and deliver hearts and minds from fear and selfishness – can be more easily seen that I delight in weakness, insults, mistreatment, difficulties, persecution, and hardships. The weaker I get, the more of Christ’s power is manifest in me, and the stronger I become.
30. Psalm 23 (The Remedy)
The Lord is my friend – I have everything I need. He provides rest where I can gather strength, He leads me to peace and safety – like still waters; He heals my inmost self. He leads me through the process of spiritual restoration for the magnification of his character of love. Moreover, when I go through the dark times – when I feel like I am going to die – I will not give in to fear or choose selfishness, for you are right there with me; your rod of truth and staff of love, they comfort me. you provide a feast to nurture me in plain view of my enemies. you cleanse my mind with the oil of your Spirit; my cup of joy overflows. Only goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will live in God’s heavenly home for evermore.
31. 1 Peter 3:14 (The Remedy)
Even if you are attacked or persecuted for doing what is right, by forgiving and loving others you reveal God’s true character and simultaneously are advancing to be more like hime. So “do not fear for this mortal life as the world fears; and don’t be frightened for a minute,”
32. Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)
But Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
33. Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)
But those who trust in the lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
34. Hebrews 4:16 (The Remedy & NLT)
(The Remedy) Therefore, let us approach the throne of God’s grace without fear, but confidently, realizing that he longs to dispense all the resources of heaven to heal us so that we may receive mercy, grace, and every benefit to give us victory in our time of need.
(NLT) So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

38. Psalm 34:17 (NLT)
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.
39. Psalm 37:1-6 (The Remedy)
Do not be distraught over the apparent gains of the selfish or envy those who persist in violating God’s design of love; for they will soon wither like grass, like flowers of the field they will fade away. Trust in the Lord and live to love others; be active in your community as a shepherd of God’s kingdom of love. When you delight in the Lord, he will give you what your heart desires. Commit yourself to following God’s plan – living in harmony with his designs; trust him with how life turns out and he will do what is best: He will renew your character into righteous love that shines brighter every day; your decision will radiate goodness like the noonday sun.
40. Ephesians 3:16-19 (The Remedy)
I pray that out of the glorious riches that emanate from his being, and through the working of his Spirit in your minds, you will be fully transformed into Christlikeness and so settled into God’s methods and principles that you cannot be shaken, so that Christ will dwell in your hearts through trust. And I pray that you rooted and transformed by love, will have your minds enabled (together with all the saints) to grasp how immense, and wide, and long, and deep, and high is the love of Christ, and to know in every fiber of your beings this love that surpasses intellectual knowledge, that you may become living showcases of God’s loving character.
Bible Versions
You can see that I have mostly used the New Living Translation and the Remedy Bible for these verses because they are 2 of my favorite translations. I like them just because they make it a little easier for me to understand. However, I encourage you to look up the texts in whatever your favorite version is. I often will look up a verse in many different versions to see how it reads. Like I said, these are 2 of my favorites.
If you like the Remedy Bible it is free in the app store – Remedy Bible. It is a paraphrased bible written by Dr. Timothy R Jennings. At the time of this post, the Remedy Bible only has the New Testament, Psalms, and Genesis.
